About the Work location

Catholic Education in the Diocese of Cairns is comprised of 30 schools and colleges across Far North Queensland and the central education office, Catholic Education Services which is located across three offices in the city of Cairns. Our Cairns Catholic Education community has 20 primary schools, two Prep to Year 12 colleges and eight secondary colleges. The most recent college to open was the first Catholic school in Australia to be co-located with a university. Another of our colleges is a Special Assistance College with campuses in Cairns, Cooktown, and Edmonton. Over the next five years there are two new schools planned at Kewarra Beach and Gordonvale.

About the role

The Director of School Effectiveness (Secondary & P-12) works in collaboration with the Principal and Leadership Teams of the 10 secondary and P-12 Colleges in the Diocese of Cairns, to help provide students with a world class education, enriched by the lived Encounter with the Catholic faith.

Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements

  • Degree/Post Graduate qualification in Education 
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Principal 
  • Registration with Qld College of Teachers
  • Current drivers licence.
  • A strong demonstrated commitment to the objectives, vision and ethos of Catholic Education.
  • Promote child safety at all times.

Highly Desirable Criteria

People with team leadership experience including leading multi-disciplinary teams are encouraged apply. Ideally, this experience will be in Education, Allied Health or related sectors, with exposure to innovation and research in the wellbeing of young people.

  • The equivalent of a Master of Educational Leadership;
  • Post Graduate studies in Theology;
  • Experience as a Principal in multiple schools.
