MacKillop Catholic College, a master-planned Prep to Year 12 College located in the growing southern corridor of Cairns, was established in 2016 with Prep-Year 3 classes. The College has developed progressively, adding additional year levels annually, and commenced secondary education in 2020 with Year 7, and the first Year 12 cohort graduating in 2025. Guided by the authentic discipleship of Saint Mary MacKillop of the Cross, and the Josephite tradition, our mission, to inspire hearts, minds and spirits, is grounded in the vision to provide quality 21st century education to the young people in our community.
MacKillop Catholic College, Mount Peter (“The College”) will have enrolments of approximately 1,600 students when year levels from Prep to Year 12 are established in 2025. As such, the Finance function delivers on a critical part of the successful running of the College.
The primary purpose of the Finance Team Leader role is to support the Business Manager in leading the financial services functions of the College. The Team Leader assists the Business Manager to supervise Finance team staff and ensure the successful and timely delivery of Finance team outcomes. The Team Leader provides a range of value adding financial services to a broad range of stakeholders, including the College staff, parents of students, the Business Manager and the College Principal.
The role ensures on-going transactional processing activities of the Finance team to comply with guidelines and are delivered in a timely, efficient, and effective way. The role leads other Finance team members. The team deliver all aspects of school fee billing, other debtor billing, banking, and receipting of funds, debt collection activities, the raising of purchase orders and payments to suppliers. Providing advice and support to staff and customers, responding to both internal and external audit requests, plus account coding and account reconciliations are all important aspects of the finance team’s work.
