Innisfail is the largest business centre on the Cassowary Coast in Far North Queensland with a population of approximately 10,000. The picturesque township is situated at the junction of the North and South Johnstone Rivers, about five km from the coast and 90km south of Cairns which services a domestic and international airport.

GCP is the largest Primary School in the Innisfail District with a current cohort of 350 students. The school has two streams for each year level from Prep to Year 6. Our school offers a dynamic and engaging curriculum designed to inspire curiosity and a love of learning in every student.

Vision

Good Counsel Primary strives to be an authentic, positive Catholic community connected to the Charism of the Sisters of the Good Samaritan in the Order of Saint Benedict, and the traditional owners of the land on which the school is situated, the Mamu people. We acknowledge the parents/carers as the first and ongoing teachers of their children.

Values

In keeping with the Charism values of the 'Good Samaritan Sisters', at Good Counsel Primary, staff and students:

Welcome all as we would welcome Christ

Are compassionate to the person in need

Serve God by being neighbour

Motto

Our School motto is: Seek, Learn and Serve

In Christ we:

Seek to be wholly educated - Mind, body and Spirit

Learn for the betterment of ourselves and our world

Serve God by journeying inclusively and respectfully
