Catholic Education Cairns is pleased to support professionals who are seeking a career change into teaching. The scholarships are intended to support applicants who have an undergraduate degree and are applying for entry into a full time Master of Teaching and Learning degree in either Primary or Secondary Education

Eligibility

Intend to enrol full time in a Master of Teaching and Learning: Primary or Secondary

Be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident

How To Apply

✓ Produce a three minute video which answers the following three questions:

  1. What inspires you to be a teacher in a Catholic School in Cairns? 
  2. What qualities do you think make a successful teacher and why? 
  3. What unique skills do you bring to the table as you change careers into teaching? 

✓ Provide two written references supporting your application and suitability to receive the scholarship. One of these referees must be a recent line manager. 

✓ Submit your resume and other supporting documentation, including your academic transcripts from your undergraduate degree and other relevant certificates of attainment. 

✓ Include a copy of your certified birth certificate, passport or permanent visa. 

Selection Process

Applicants will be shortlisted by a panel chaired by the Director of Workforce Capability. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview prior to the selection of scholarship recipients. 

Conditions

As a scholarship recipient, you must: 

  • Remain enrolled in the course at the time of application. 
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 4. 
  • Complete all requirements of the course, including professional experience placements. 
  • Seek to attend Catholic Education Services events and briefings, e.g., getting ready for employment sessions
