Newman Catholic College is seeking applications for Teachers in various subjects to join their growing College community in 2025 / 2026.

Salary Range: Graduate $86,600 to Lead Teacher $147,048 FTE gross per annum plus 12.75% Superannuation

Newman Catholic College is Catholic Education Diocese of Cairns newest secondary school. The College comprises state-of-the-art facilities situated within James Cook University, Cairns. About the Role

Due to the continuous growth of the college, Newman Catholic College Smithfield is seeking a number of experienced and dedicated Secondary Teachers to join their school teaching in a range of Key Subjects for the 2025/ 2026 school year. These roles are Full Time, Permanent positions for 2025/2026. 

These Key Subject Areas we will be looking for teachers for are as below:

  • Mathematics (with an ability to teach Senior Mathematics an advantage)
  • English (an ability to teach Senior English)
  • Humanities(an ability to teach Senior History)
  • Religious Education (an ability to teach Senior Religious Education)
  • Science
  • Design and Technology
  • Food Technology
  • Visual Art
  • Dance
  • HPE

  • knowledge of, and a commitment to, the Catholic ethos and vision of the school, including the liturgical life of the college
  • ability to work as a member of a professional team of teachers, dedicated to providing quality education in partnership with the families, parish, university, and wider community
  • ability to collaborate and work positively as a part of a professional teaching team
  • understanding of contemporary pedagogy and the ability to differentiate learning meeting the needs of a diverse range of students
  • willingness to change and develop instructional strategies to increase student growth and achievement 

Teachers are accountable to and under the direction of the College Principal.
