CEDC is a partnership with Catholic Education Services and thirty schools including twenty primary schools, two Prep to Year 12 Colleges and eight secondary Colleges which includes a Flexible Learning College with campuses in Cairns and Cooktown. 

All schools, except the dual campus Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School, Waiben (Thursday Island) and Kiriri (Hammond Island), Weipa and Holy Spirit College, Cooktown campus, are within a two-hour drive of Cairns.

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Executive Leader People and Culture is responsible for developing and leading a diocesan wide People and Culture strategy that reflects Gospel values, good governance, statutory and industrial compliances that supports staff wellbeing, and enables excellence in Catholic education.

Work Requirements

  • Postgraduate  qualifications in Law, IR, HR, Business Administration or related field
  • Advanced knowledge and practical application of industrial relations, employment law, governance frameworks, and organisational development.
  • Extensive experience in senior leadership role overseeing HR, Governance, or Professional Standards functions, ideally within education or faith-based organisations.
  • Unless an exemption applies all staff are required to hold a current Working With Children Blue Card or be eligible to apply or registered or eligible to register with Queensland College of Teachers
  • Ability to travel across the diocese, including remote and regional locations.
  • A strong demonstrated commitment to the objectives, vision, and ethos of Catholic Education
  • Promote child safety at all times
  • Commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
  • Deep understanding of Catholic ethos and commitment to the mission of Catholic education.
  • Undertake a National Criminal History and Bankruptcy check as the re-employment screening process
