Salary Range: Assistant Principal- AP1 $141,166 - AP3 $148,100 gross per annum FTE (commensurate with experience)

St Andrew’s Catholic College is set on a picturesque 25 ha site located in the Redlynch Valley. The College is a P-12 co-educational school that has become well established as a school of choice owing to the quality and breadth of its offerings.

About the Role

The Assistant Principal - Staff (Prep-12) has responsibility for the day to day operation of the College ensuring that Learning and Teaching, and the wellbeing of all who access the College, is prioritised and communicated effectively in a safe and well organised manner.

The following six domains outline the role of the Assistant Principal – Staff as it is envisaged in Catholic schools in the Diocese of Cairns. Following each domain is the Statement of Performance Competency followed by Performance Indicators.

  1. FAITH LEADERSHIP 
    • To share in the essential Mission of the Church as a leader within the school Faith community
  2. EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP 
    • To support learning and teaching as the Assistant Principal – Learning & Teaching (7-12)
  3. STAFF LEADERSHIP
    • To develop self and others as the Assistant Principal – Learning & Teaching (7-12)
  4. ORGANISATIONAL LEADERSHIP
    • To support the Principal in the management of the school
  5. COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP
    • To engage and work with the community as the Assistant Principal – Learning & Teaching (7-12)
  6. STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP
    • To lead improvement, innovation and change as determined by the Principal

Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements

  • Participation in and commitment to the sacramental life of the Church  
  • Understanding and commitment to education in the Catholic tradition
  • Professional qualifications in Education and Religion as per Queensland Catholic Education Commission Position Statement for Senior Leadership Positions in Catholic Schools in Queensland
  • Leadership experience:
    • Demonstrated ability in religious and education leadership
    • Demonstrated administrative ability
    • Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relationships
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary educational issues at state and national levels with particular reference to Religious Education
  • Written and verbal communication skills of a high order
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Pastoral Care of members of the school community
  • Skills for building community including facilitation, delegation and consultation 
  • Professional qualifications in Education
  • Registered or eligible to register with Queensland College of Teachers
  • Promote child safety at all times
  • Current drivers licence
  • A strong demonstrated commitment to the objectives, vision and ethos of Catholic Education
