St Gerard Majella School is a co-educational Catholic primary school in the Cairns southern suburb of Woree. With a healthy enrolment of around 400 students from Prep to Year Six, the school has always been a highly regarded and well sought-after Catholic primary school.

The Health Teacher will plan and deliver engaging, high-quality learning experiences aligned with the P-6 Australian Curriculum: Health and Physical Education, National Standards, Diocesan and school-based learning area plans and policies. They will create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes students' social, emotional, and mental well-being while catering to their diverse learning needs.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to developing students' knowledge, skills, and attitudes towards healthy lifestyles, personal wellbeing, respectful relationships, safety, and active participation. They will use a variety of effective teaching, assessment, and data-informed practices to monitor student progress, differentiate learning experiences, and encourage positive health behaviours and lifelong well-being habits.
The Health Teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community to support student wellbeing and achievement, contribute to whole-school health and wellbeing initiatives, and actively participate in professional learning and continuous school improvement practices. The successful applicant will implement the Prep-Year 6 Personal, Social and Community Health strand, which focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to make healthy, safe, and respectful choices. It explores healthy relationships, safety, food and nutrition, and contextual factors that shape wellbeing.
