Salary Classification: CES Level 8 - $143,885  to  $159,864 Gross per annum

About the Role

A world-class education system requires world-class leaders, teaching staff and non-teaching staff. The purpose of the School Performance Team, is to provide strategic leadership and capability development services and systems across Catholic Education Diocese of Cairns (CEDC).

The role holder will work within the School Performance Team and support the directorates work to build the capacity of CEDC employees across the 30 schools within the Diocese. The Consultant - School Performance will provide consultancy services to support capability development of teaching staff, with a focus on pre-service and early career teachers, and those who support these stages, such as pre-service supervising teachers, mentors, early career teacher co-ordinators, middle leaders and Principals, as well as aspiring Highly Accomplished Teachers (HAT) and Lead teachers.

The role will support a future ready workforce by coordinating and facilitating:

  • Support system-wide capability development across 30 schools within the Diocese, with a focus on pre‑service and early career teachers.
  • Coordinate and enhance the Aspire to Teach program, partnering with schools, JCU, and CES teams while developing evidence‑based resources.
  • Lead the CES Scholarship Program including promotion, selection, event delivery and support for recipients in collaboration with universities, QCT and QCEC.
  • Strengthen Initial Teacher Education pathways through HEI partnerships, placement coordination, supervising teacher support, and workforce data analysis.
  • Develop and deliver evidence‑based programs and resources for Early Career Teachers, including mentor training, school-based support, and transition to Full Registration.
  • Coordinate CES support for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HAT/Lead) aspirants and professional networks.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional learning to schools, applying strong adult learning practices and data‑informed decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively across CES teams, modelling the mission and values of Catholic Education and contributing to a positive, future‑focused culture.
  • Exercise sound judgement, discretion, and consultation while working under the guidance of the Deputy Executive Director

The role holder will have

  • Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers.
  • Professional qualifications in Education.
  • Formal qualifications at Degree level are required, along with relevant post graduate qualifications or extensive and relevant experience as required by the employer.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years experience.
  • Hold a current motor vehicle driver’s license and be able to travel within and outside the diocese.
  • Unless an exemption applies all staff are required to hold a current Working With Children Blue Card or be eligible to apply.
  • Promote child safety at all times.
