Indigenous Liaison Officer

MacKillop Catholic College, Mount Peter is seeking applications for an Indigenous Liaison Officer to join the College.
Applicants should identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (exemption under the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act, Section 25 (Genuine Occupational Requirement)

Commencement Date: Term 2, 20th April 2026
 
Salary Range: SOF Level 3 $34.17 - $35.62 gross per hour + 12.75% super
 
Employment Type: Term-Time, Permanent
 
Hours: 30 Hours Per Week

MacKillop Catholic College, Mount Peter

MacKillop Catholic College, a master-planned Prep to Year 12 College located in the growing southern corridor of Cairns, was established in 2016 with Prep-Year 3 classes. The College has developed progressively, adding additional year levels annually, and commenced secondary education in 2020 with Year 7, and the first Year 12 cohort graduating in 2025.  Guided by the authentic discipleship of Saint Mary MacKillop of the Cross, and the Josephite tradition, our mission, to inspire hearts, minds and spirits, is grounded in the vision to provide quality 21st century education to the young people in our community.

About the Role

The role and responsibilities of the Indigenous Liaison Officer is primarily one of communication and liaison between diocesan schools, Catholic Education Services and local First Nations people, communities and agencies to increase student engagement and outcomes for First Nations students.

Indigenous Liaison Officers play a key role in providing knowledge and understanding of First Nations histories, languages and cultures within schools to promote respect and harmony. The role is conducted in collaboration with school staff and the school Principal.

  • Hold a Working with Children Blue Card
  • Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education
