MacKillop Catholic College, Mount Peter has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance & Facilities Manager to join the College.

Commencement Date:  Monday, 20th April 2026 (negotiable)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Position
Hours: 38 hours Per Week 
Salary Range:  $84,617 - $103,020 gross per annum FTE pending experience

MacKillop Catholic College, Mount Peter

MacKillop Catholic College, a master-planned Prep to Year 12 College located in the growing southern corridor of Cairns, was established in 2016 with Prep-Year 3 classes. The College has developed progressively, adding additional year levels annually, and commenced secondary education in 2020 with Year 7, and the first Year 12 cohort graduating in 2025.  Guided by the authentic discipleship of Saint Mary MacKillop of the Cross, and the Josephite tradition, our mission, to inspire hearts, minds and spirits, is grounded in the vision to provide quality 21st century education to the young people in our community.

About the Role

The role of the Maintenance & Facilities Manager is to ensure that all aspects of MacKillop Catholic College in regard to building, gardens and grounds are well maintained and presented and that all work undertaken complies with statutory obligations and Australian Standards.  The Maintenance & Facilities Manager is the direct supervisor of the Cleaning, Maintenance and Grounds Staff and is responsible for the management of contractors and sub-contractors.

The Maintenance and Facilities Manager will:

  • Take direction from the Business Manager and Principal.
  • Be team-focused and communicate effectively and professionally with all Cleaning, Maintenance and Grounds Staff as well as members of the school community.
  • Facilitate and manage regular department meetings.
  • Be available to assist with out-of-hours work - particularly around significant MacKillop events including Liturgies, Openings, Ceremonies, Award Nights, Graduation events, Security Alerts, etc.

Work Requirements

  • Hold a Working with Children Blue Card
  • Current Drivers Licence - LR or HR preferred
  • Trade qualifications at Certificate level or equivalent qualifications relevant to the position may be required or such knowledge, qualifications and experience that are deemed by the employer as necessary to successfully carry out the duties of the position.
