Employment Type: Full Time, Fixed Term Leadership Position (3 years)   

This position holds a substantive permanent teaching position within Catholic Education, Diocese of Cairns.        

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience - $84,077 to $142,764 FTE Gross per annum + 3POL Points ($9,488.67 Gross p.a)

St Gerard Majella School, Woree

St Gerard Majella School is a co-educational Catholic primary school in the Cairns southern suburb of Woree. With a healthy enrolment of around 400 students from Prep to Year Six, the school has always been a highly regarded and well sought-after Catholic primary school.

Located in the rapidly developing southern suburbs of Cairns, St Gerard Majella School is situated in a beautiful setting at the base of Red Hill. The school shares well-kept grounds with the adjacent secondary school, St Mary’s Catholic College. St Gerard Majella is surrounded by lush courtyards and a large oval for children to play on. About the Role

Student diversity is valued, and inclusive practice are fundamental to the ethos of Catholic schools. The Leader of Diversity (Lod) will work closely with all staff members to ensure the diverse needs of our students are catered for. They will work within whole-school initiatives and focus on the holistic growth and development of each student. The Leader of Diversity will contribute to the quality of educational outcomes by providing effective assistance to teachers in supporting students with diverse learning needs. They will have a key role in the implementation of the School's Strategic and Annual improvement Plans and will be part of the School Leadership Team.

The Leader of Diversity reports to the principal and works in consultation with and direction from the principal who will oversee the role and responsibilities of the role. They will work closely with teachers to plan and implement teaching strategies and programs that identify and respond to the individual needs of students. The Leader of Diversity will liaise with parents, visiting specialists and therapists to support student learning. The position attracts Position of Leadership points for the successful applicant. 

Work Requirements

  • Be registered or eligible to be registered with Queensland College of Teachers
  • Professional qualifications in Education
  • Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education
