Position of Leadership - Learning & Teaching

Contract period: 14th July 2025 until 14th July 2028
Employment Type: Full Time, Varied Leadership Position (3 years) - This position holds a full-time, permanent Teaching position  
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience - Graduate $84,077 - Proficient 4 $104,841 FTE gross per annum + 4 POL Points leadership allowance ($12,648 p.a) + 12.75% Super

About the Role

Purpose Of The Role The role of the Primary Position of Leadership - Learning and Teaching, is to support the vision and mission of the school through leadership of learning and teaching. This involves leading the development of appropriate curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and reporting in line with national and local requirements.

This will involve:

  • ensuring that research-based pedagogies are developed and systematically implemented across the school.
  • systematic delivery of the Australian Curriculum.
  • ensuring the quality of student learning and the effectiveness of teacher practice through appropriate support.
  • developing school wide assessment and reporting practices.
  • developing capacity for the thorough analysis of data to inform decisions.
  • developing appropriate partnerships within and outside of the school.
  • administering available resources and,
  • the pastoral care of staff working within the year level learning teams. 

Take the Lead; Setting the Vision: In the Know and Leading Authentically:

  • Actively contributes to the vision and work of the School’s Leadership Team.
  • Driving a continuity and uniformity of curriculum delivery through Whole School Planning to facilitate the teaching of the Australian Curriculum.
  • Lead the continuous improvement agenda in teaching and learning by engaging in current research and evidence informed practices.
  • Works with the Leadership Team to establish long term school improvement agenda, built upon student data and best practice research.
  • Run whole school teaching and learning professional development activities.

Think it through: Logical Thinking & Conceptual Thinking:

  • Integrates teaching and learning research on High Impact Strategies to establish a whole school approach to professional formation, implementation, evaluation and review of systematic teaching and learning.
  • Analyses the teaching and learning continuum in a logical and systematic way that maximises student learning.
  • Liaise and report to the leadership team in relation to Whole School Planning so that evaluation and review of the Primary Position of Leadership – Learning and Teaching, Teaching planning and programming is responsive to identified school needs and priorities.

Work Together: Communication clearly, Working Systematically, Building Relationships

  • Ensure effective teaching and improved achievement across all curriculum areas, demonstrating knowledge, understanding and skill in the teaching of literacy and numeracy in alignment with the Australian Curriculum and evidenced based strategies.
  •  
    Chairs the Professional Learning Communities (PLTs) meetings to work in collaboration with teaching teams to use evidence-based practices that improve the impact of teaching on each student’s learning progress and achievement.
  •  
    Actively translates evidence informed research into high impact teaching and learning through support of individual staff.

Focus on Improvement: Future Oriented & Taking Responsibility

  • Build capacity of teaching expertise and knowledge of effective, evidence-based teaching practices to improve student learning across the curriculum with a focus on literacy and numeracy through the delivery of professional learning.
  • Foster a culture of positive accountability between colleagues as part of everyday work by providing feedback to leadership team /and Cohorts once a term.
  • Meet termly with line manager around termly goals and future action.

Reflect and Grow: Developing Capacity, Faith Formation & Personal Mastery

  • Facilitate professional development and capacity across the school through assisting staff to set learning goals and evaluate progress.

  • Registered or eligible to register with Queensland College of Teachers
