Holy Cross School, Trinity Park

Formally opened in 1987, Holy Cross School is an integral component of the Northern Beaches Parish of Cairns. The Holy Cross School Charism - RELATIONSHIPS, COMMUNITY, SERVICE and STEWARDSHIP - referred to as ‘The Holy Cross Way', is embedded in all facets of school life, and lived, modelled, and articulated by every member of the school community.

Grounded in a reputation of innovation, Holy Cross School introduced internationally acclaimed Walker Learning in 2017. An Australian based total and holistic pedagogy, Walker Learning is an intentional teaching and learning approach for primary aged children. Through hands-on creative exploration and investigation, Walker Learning enables staff to craft the unique balance between students as active participants in their learning, and explicit instruction driven by the teachers.

Holy Cross School lives and breathes its Catholic identity as a place of welcoming and belonging for all. With two teams of highly skilled School Officers (Team Wellbeing and Team Learning) teachers pride themselves on being able to offer an authentic wholly inclusive curriculum ensuring every child can meet their full potential in all facets of their schooling. A proud fully accredited Dyslexia School, Holy Cross School has the best interests of every child at the forefront of its growth and development.

Culturally diverse, students enjoy a rich tapestry of languages, life experiences and cultural histories. A team of Specialist staff (Teacher Librarian, HPE Teacher, Music Dance and Drama Teacher, STEM Teacher, Enrichment Teacher, Indigenous Liaison Officer, Accredited Dyslexia Teacher and three Inclusion Support Teachers) ensure multiple opportunities are readily available to guarantee every student finds their ‘spark’ prior to graduation in Year 6, enabling them to be the best version of themselves into High School and beyond.

About the Role

Holy Cross School, Trinity Park is currently seeking applications for Casual First Nations Ambassador (FNA) to support staff, students, families, and community by helping bring authentic First Nations perspectives and experiences into everyday learning. As a cultural guide and connector, the FNA assists teachers in developing genuine understanding, creates opportunities for students to learn from Elders and community, and helps ensure cultural learning is grounded in respect and truth. The role also nurtures student identity and cultural pride, including through VOICE forums that offer students meaningful opportunities to contribute to key moments in the school year.

A key purpose of the FNA is to build and maintain strong, respectful communication networks between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their families, the community, and the school. By gently sharing knowledge of First Nations histories, languages, and cultures, the FNA helps cultivate respect, harmony, and a culturally responsive environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. This work is done collaboratively with school staff and the Principal, and with the support of the First Nations Education team at CDEC.
