This position holds a permanent Teaching position within the College.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience - Graduate $86,000 - Proficient 4 $107,988 FTE Gross per annum, plus applicable Middle Leader Tier 3 allowance $19,535 p.a.  
OR 
Proficient 5 and above: $144,259 FTE Gross per annum

Newman Catholic College, co-located on James Cook University site, Smithfield, is Cairns Catholic Education’s newest college, joining a system of 29 other catholic schools and colleges. Opened in 2022 and growing a year level each year until Year 12 is reached in 2027, its location on and interaction with the University presents endless opportunities to meet the diverse learning needs of our students. Newman Catholic College works collaboratively with James Cook University so that learning and teaching is enhanced at all year levels.

 

About the Role

The role of the Leader of Technologies is to support the mission of the College through leadership of the learning and teaching programs of Technologies. This involves developing appropriate curriculum in line with National, State and Diocesan guidelines; ensuring that appropriate pedagogies are developed and implemented at all levels; monitoring the quality of student learning and the effectiveness of teacher practice through appropriate supervision; utilising thorough analysis of current data to inform decisions; building appropriate partnerships within and outside of the school; and prudently administering available resources.

The Leader of Technologies provides vision, inspiration, encouragement, and assistance to all members of their team, providing support to the College Leadership Team and working under their guidance. He / She is expected to demonstrate excellence in the knowledge, understanding and research in the Learning Area of Technologies. They will show leadership in their field and promote their Learning Area’s part of the holistic education offered at Newman Catholic College.

The Leader of Technologies is accountable to and under the direction of the Deputy Principal- Academic Studies.
