Payroll Officer 

Two positions available;

1 x Full time, permanent 

1 x Full time, fixed term until April 2027 (Parental Leave Contract) 

Commencement Date: Monday 30 April 2026 (or by negotiation)

Salary Range: CCEO Level 4 $80,318 - $90,765 FTE gross per annum

About the Role

The main purpose of the Payroll Officer role is to prepare and process in a timely manner a high quality, accurate payroll with a focus on customer service in accordance with legislation, policies and agreements for all staff of the Catholic Education Diocese of Cairns (CEDC).  A high level of organisational skills is required to ensure that the processing of documentation and the prioritisation of tasks in a complex work environment are effectively managed.  This position works closely with internal and external stakeholders to effectively contribute towards the achievement of the Strategic Direction.

Work Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience in a significant range of administrative procedures as well as payroll experience in medium to large organisations.
  • Sound knowledge or the ability to develop sound knowledge of relevant legislation related to payroll including taxation and superannuation 
  • Intermediate computer literacy skills and knowledge Microsoft Office applications.
  • Organisational and planning skills and ability to prioritise workload to meet deadline.
  • Hold a Working with Children Blue Card or be eligible to apply
  • Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education.
  • A strong demonstrated commitment to the objectives, vision and ethos of Catholic Education.
