Primary Position of Leadership ~ Leader of Diversity

Commencement Date: 17 January 2026 

Employment Type: Full Time, Fixed Term Leadership Position (3 years) 
This position holds a substantive permanent teaching position.

Salary Range:Commensurate with experience - Graduate $86,600 to Lead Teacher $147,048  FTE Gross per annum + 2 POL Points ($6,512 per annum FTE) and 12.75% super

St Joseph’s School is an integral part of the Cairns Diocese and the Atherton Catholic Parish. Located approximately one and a quarter hour’s drive from Cairns, Atherton sits within the heart of the naturally beautiful and agriculturally rich Atherton Tablelands. St Joseph’s School operates dual stream having experienced growth over the last few years. The school’s current enrolment stands at 268 students, and 36 staff.  St Joseph’s is a welcoming community where parents/carers are encouraged to become actively involved in various dimensions of school life.

About the Role

Student diversity is fundamental to the ethos of Catholic schools. The Position of Leadership - Diversity works within whole-school initiatives to address the diverse needs of students through a culture of inclusiveness.
 
The Position of Leadership - Diversity works closely with teachers to plan and implement teaching strategies and programs that identify and respond to the individual needs of students. The Position of Leadership - Diversity communicates with parents as key partners in the educational outcomes of students. The Position of Leadership - Diversity also liaises with visiting specialists, including Therapists and Inclusive Education Teachers to support student learning.

Work Requirements

  • A strong demonstrated commitment to the values, vision and ethos of Catholic Education
  • Professional qualifications in Education
  • Demonstrated ability in Learning and Teaching
  • Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relationships
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to the wellbeing of members of the school community
  • Skills for building community including facilitation, delegation and consultation
  • Registered or eligible to register with Queensland College of Teachers
  • Experience working with students who have diverse learning needs and those requiring learning support in a school setting.
  • Capacity to understand and implement Duty of Care and Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
  • Current driver’s licence;
  • Promote child safety at all times
