Employment Type: Full-Time, Fixed Term 5 Year Leadership Position (this position holds a substantive permanent teaching position)
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience - AP1 $145,401 - AP3 $152,543 gross per annum FTE

MacKillop Catholic College, Mount Peter

MacKillop Catholic College, a master-planned Prep to Year 12 College located in the growing southern corridor of Cairns, was established in 2016 with Prep-Year 3 classes. The College has developed progressively, adding additional year levels annually, and commenced secondary education in 2020 with Year 7, and the first Year 12 cohort graduating in 2025.  Guided by the authentic discipleship of Saint Mary MacKillop of the Cross, and the Josephite tradition, our mission, to inspire hearts, minds and spirits, is grounded in the vision to provide quality 21st century education to the young people in our community.

About the Role

The Assistant Principal Administration provides general leadership in support of the Principal in the achievement of the acknowledged mission and goals of the community.  Additionally, the Assistant Principal Administration provides specific leadership in those areas delegated by the Principal, showing a high level of leadership, professionalism, competence, proficiency and organisation.

Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements

  • Participation in and commitment to the sacramental life of the Catholic Church
  • Understanding and commitment to education in the Catholic tradition
  • Postgraduate (Master level) qualifications in Education and/or Religion as per Queensland Catholic Education Commission Position Statement for Senior Leadership Positions in Catholic Schools in Queensland
  • Leadership experience:
    • Demonstrated ability in religious and education leadership
    • Demonstrated administrative ability
    • Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relationships
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary educational issues at state and national levels with particular reference to Religious Education
  • Written and verbal communication skills of a high order
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Pastoral Care of members of the College community
  • Skills for building community including facilitation, delegation, and consultation
  • Professional qualifications in Education
  • Registered or eligible to register with Queensland College of Teachers
  • Promote child safety at all times
  • Current drivers' licence
  • A strong demonstrated commitment to the objectives, vision and ethos of Catholic Education

  • Be registered or eligible to be registered with Queensland College of Teachers
